Register Book Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average register book import price amounted to $4,949 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, register book import price increased by +59.5% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($7,355 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($4,453 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Register Book Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
The average register book export price stood at $6,126 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 38%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,456 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Hong Kong SAR ($6,038 per ton) and the United States ($6,037 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($6,037 per ton) and China ($6,037 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Register Book Imports in Australia
In 2022, the amount of registers, account books, order books and receipt books imported into Australia was estimated at 18K tons, increasing by 4% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 7.2% against the previous year.
