Rice Bran Price in Finland (FOB) - 2023
The average rice bran export price stood at $1,809 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -1.5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,856 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,518 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,405 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Rice Bran Price in Finland (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average rice bran import price amounted to $633 per ton, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, rice bran import price decreased by -12.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 94%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,014 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($32,389 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($285 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+53.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Rice Bran Exports in Finland
Rice bran exports from Finland declined rapidly to 1.9K tons in 2022, falling by -46.8% against the previous year. In general, exports recorded a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -11.6% was in 2021.
In value terms, rice bran exports shrank to $2.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.7M, and then shrank in the following year.

In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 362 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, rice bran imports shrank to $135K in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $263K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
