Rice Price in Ecuador (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average rice export price amounted to $545 per ton, with a decrease of -4.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 7.6%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $569 per ton, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($5,426 per ton), while the average price for exports to Guatemala ($512 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+30.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average rice import price stood at $417 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -8.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $634 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($699 per ton), while the price for Peru ($298 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (-5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, shipments abroad of rice increased by 15% to 3.7K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt contraction.
In value terms, rice exports rose markedly to $2M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a drastic downturn.

Rice Imports in Ecuador
