Roasted Malt Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average roasted malt export price amounted to $886 per ton, which is down by -2.7% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $939 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Thailand ($983 per ton) and South Korea ($939 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($700 per ton) and Vietnam ($771 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Roasted Malt Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
The average roasted malt import price stood at $1,136 per ton in 2022, growing by 16% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, roasted malt import price increased by +14.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 27%.
