Roasted Malt Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average roasted malt export price amounted to $1,095 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,131 per ton in July 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($1,286 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($1,075 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Roasted Malt Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average roasted malt import price amounted to $1,835 per ton, with an increase of 20% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a moderate increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, roasted malt import price increased by +33.3% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 86% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,016 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,297 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,341 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Roasted Malt Exports in Lithuania
In 2022, approx. 2.5K tons of roasted malt were exported from Lithuania; dropping by -34.7% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.8K tons, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, roasted malt exports shrank to $2.1M in 2022. In general, exports saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 13%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.3M, and then declined in the following year.

Roasted Malt Imports in Lithuania
For the third year in a row, Lithuania recorded decline in overseas purchases of roasted malt, which decreased by -48.1% to 617 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a dramatic curtailment. The smallest decline of -2.5% was in 2020.
In value terms, roasted malt imports shrank remarkably to $693K in 2022. Overall, imports faced a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 0.1%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.1M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
