Rye Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
The average rye export price stood at $220 per ton in 2022, rising by 3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 95% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $523 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($228 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($216 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Rye Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
The average rye import price stood at $2,146 per ton in 2022, jumping by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 278%. The import price peaked at $5,742 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,359 per ton), while the price for Poland amounted to $460 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (-2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Rye Exports in Ukraine
In 2022, the amount of rye exported from Ukraine shrank significantly to 53K tons, falling by -50.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 2,081%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 107K tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
