The average salts; sodium dichromate import price stood at $1,978 per ton in February 2023, with a decrease of -22.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 when the average import price increased by 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,558 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to February 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($2,099 per ton), while the price for South Africa stood at $1,742 per ton.

From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+36.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average salts; sodium dichromate export price stood at $1,581 per ton in 2022, reducing by -12.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 31% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,811 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.
