Sausage Price in Australia (FOB) - 2023
The average sausage export price stood at $7,214 per ton in July 2023, growing by 7.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 14% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,743 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Papua New Guinea ($13,101 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vanuatu ($2,672 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sausage Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average sausage import price amounted to $4,414 per ton, dropping by -8.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 an increase of 43% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,946 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,114 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($2,856 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sausage Exports in Australia
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of sausages and similar products of meat decreased by -0.1% to 2K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, sausage exports rose significantly to $13M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
