The average seals; mechanical import price stood at $5.9 per unit in September 2023, surging by 121% against the previous month. Overall, the import price posted a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 995% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $9.4 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($12.1 per unit), while the price for Belgium ($2.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
