Sheep; Live Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023

The average sheep; live export price stood at $128 per unit in October 2023, with an increase of 5.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $155 per unit in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Montenegro ($146 per unit), while the average price for exports to Albania ($100 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average sheep; live import price stood at $99 per unit in 2022, dropping by -31.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 44% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $192 per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($105 per unit), while the price for Romania stood at $98 per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+32.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sheep; Live Exports in Serbia

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of sheep; live decreased by -33.1% to 129K units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 192K units, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, sheep; live exports declined markedly to $15M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 93% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $19M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
