Sheepskin and Lambskin Price in India (CIF) - 2022
The average sheepskin and lambskin import price stood at $1,356 per ton in 2022, falling by -15.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 29%. The import price peaked at $2,975 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($4,237 per ton), while the price for Togo ($849 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sheepskin and Lambskin Price in India (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sheepskin and lambskin export price amounted to $1,273 per ton, with an increase of 104% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,030 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Nepal.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Nepal amounted to -4.7% per year.
Sheepskin and Lambskin Imports in India
In 2022, overseas purchases of sheep or lamb skins (without wool) decreased by -40.6% to 144 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a dramatic setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 666 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sheepskin and lambskin imports fell remarkably to $195K in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 43%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.2M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Sheepskin and Lambskin Exports in India
For the third consecutive year, India recorded decline in overseas shipments of sheep or lamb skins (without wool), which decreased by -99% to 242 kg in 2022. Overall, exports showed a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -8.4% was in 2021.
In value terms, sheepskin and lambskin exports dropped remarkably to $308 in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant curtailment. The smallest decline of -14.1% was in 2021.
