Shelled Bean Price in Germany (CIF) - 2024

The average shelled bean import price stood at $2,410 per ton in January 2024, reducing by -12.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 30% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,743 per ton in December 2023, and then declined in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($4,534 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shelled Bean Price in Germany (FOB) - 2024

The average shelled bean export price stood at $2,821 per ton in January 2024, picking up by 2.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 170% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,187 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to January 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($4,768 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($2,105 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shelled Bean Imports in Germany

In 2022, approx. 3K tons of shelled beans (dry) were imported into Germany; increasing by 12% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 3.6K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, shelled bean imports surged to $6M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 38%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
