The average shrimp export price stood at $12,523 per ton in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $12,995 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($13,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal amounted to $11,416 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+2.8%).

In 2022, the average shrimp import price amounted to $6,949 per ton, with a decrease of -23.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 44%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $10,441 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($11,729 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($5,614 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of shrimps increased by 99.9% to 864 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a precipitous shrinkage.
