The average shrimp import price stood at $11,992 per ton in May 2023, rising by 10% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $12,122 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to May 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($17,871 per ton), while the price for India ($7,537 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average shrimp export price stood at $13,445 per ton in May 2023, picking up by 33% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated tangible growth from May 2022 to May 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, shrimp export price increased by +37.1% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 44% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $14,307 per ton. From February 2023 to May 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($19,128 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($7,294 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
