Shrimp Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average shrimp export price amounted to $9,879 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 76% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $16,871 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($20,008 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($3,385 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average shrimp import price stood at $10,107 per ton in 2022, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 77%. The import price peaked at $19,770 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ecuador.
From 2013 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Argentina amounted to -6.7% per year.
Shrimp Exports in Brazil
For the fourth year in a row, Brazil recorded growth in overseas shipments of shrimps, which increased by 0.7% to 580 tons in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 155% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, shrimp exports amounted to $5.7M in 2022. In general, exports showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 139%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
