Shrimp Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023

The average shrimp import price stood at $8,593 per ton in May 2023, waning by -15% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated modest growth from May 2022 to May 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on May 2023 figures, shrimp import price increased by +46.1% against January 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 30% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $10,111 per ton in April 2023, and then fell markedly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($11,053 per ton), while the price for China ($4,024 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shrimp Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023

The average shrimp export price stood at $10,425 per ton in May 2023, growing by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 21% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,728 per ton. From February 2023 to May 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($14,543 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($3,764 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shrimp Imports in Croatia

In 2022, shrimp imports into Croatia was estimated at 1.3K tons, remaining constant against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated modest growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 52%. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +85.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
