Shrimp Price in Denmark (FOB) - 2023

In May 2023, the average shrimp export price amounted to $7,332 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,372 per ton, leveling off in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($9,903 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($4,606 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In May 2023, the average shrimp import price amounted to $6,117 per ton, declining by -7.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 10% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,619 per ton, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($9,806 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,760 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of shrimps decreased by -7.8% to 96K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 9.5% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 104K tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, shrimp exports rose modestly to $662M in 2022.
