Shrimp Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In March 2022, the average shrimp export price amounted to $9,471 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 3.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $9,484 per ton in February 2022, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($12,675 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($3,104 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average shrimp import price stood at $7,779 per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 52%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $13,752 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($39,088 per ton), while the price for Greenland ($3,797 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+13.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Exports in Indonesia
For the fourth consecutive year, Indonesia recorded growth in overseas shipments of shrimps, which increased by 0.4% to 252K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 15%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, shrimp exports amounted to $2.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Shrimp Imports in Indonesia
For the fourth consecutive year, Indonesia recorded growth in purchases abroad of shrimps, which increased by 1.3% to 4.6K tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 42%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, shrimp imports reached $35M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 41%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
