In December 2022, the average shrimp import price amounted to $9,582 per ton, which is down by -2.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 when the average import price increased by 2.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,850 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to December 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Vietnam ($11,001 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($11,001 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($9,230 per ton) and India ($9,437 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
