Shrimp Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2023
The average shrimp import price stood at $8,771 per ton in September 2023, which is down by -2.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $9,851 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Lithuania ($9,404 per ton) and Sweden ($9,012 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($7,243 per ton) and Belgium ($8,440 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average shrimp export price amounted to $9,368 per ton, dropping by -3% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 2.4% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10,211 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($10,269 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania amounted to $8,950 per ton.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+0.7%).
Shrimp Imports in Latvia
In 2022, shrimp imports into Latvia rose to 1.5K tons, with an increase of 2.8% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
