In 2022, the average shrimp import price amounted to $4,611 per ton, declining by -1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,958 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($6,633 per ton), while the price for Iran ($3,349 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average shrimp export price amounted to $2,818 per ton, declining by -24.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 90%. The export price peaked at $6,739 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($12,099 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($580 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
