Shrimp Price in Peru (FOB) - 2021

In April 2020, the average shrimp export price amounted to $6,124 per ton, shrinking by -8.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2020 when the average export price increased by 4.2% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,001 per ton. From March 2020 to April 2020, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($10,497 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($4,161 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Shrimp Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021

The average shrimp import price stood at $8,411 per ton in April 2020, surging by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the last three months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($115K per ton), while the price for Argentina ($7,781 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+147.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Shrimp Exports in Peru

Shrimp exports from Peru reached 34K tons in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year's figure. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 3.6% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, shrimp exports totaled $248M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Shrimp Imports in Peru

In 2022, approx. 12K tons of shrimps were imported into Peru; with an increase of 9.1% on the previous year. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, shrimp imports stood at $81M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +13.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $81M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
