Shrimp Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average shrimp import price stood at $6,299 per ton in January 2022, surging by 5.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2021 when the average import price increased by 15% month-to-month. The import price peaked in January 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($8,717 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($4,338 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average shrimp export price amounted to $15,194 per ton, with an increase of 7.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2021 an increase of 28% month-to-month. The export price peaked in January 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($25,744 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($5,937 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Imports in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of shrimps decreased by -16.4% to 71K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 84K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, shrimp imports fell sharply to $405M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +39.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $489M, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Shrimp Exports in Russia
After two years of decline, shipments abroad of shrimps increased by 9.6% to 12K tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
In value terms, shrimp exports contracted to $98M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 17%.
