Shrimp Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023

The average shrimp import price stood at $11,035 per ton in September 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,066 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Vietnam.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +7.5% per month.

Shrimp Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average shrimp export price amounted to $8,258 per ton, which is down by -40.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 88% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $13,827 per ton in August 2023, and then fell markedly in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($10,239 per ton), while the average price for exports to Montenegro totaled $9,611 per ton.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Shrimp Imports in Slovenia

In 2022, the amount of shrimps imported into Slovenia rose notably to 698 tons, increasing by 9.8% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, shrimp imports rose notably to $6.7M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
