Shrimp Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average shrimp import price amounted to $8,481 per ton, waning by -14.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 8.5% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $10,225 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to May 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($14,664 per ton), while the price for Germany ($6,736 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023
The average shrimp export price stood at $11,751 per ton in May 2023, falling by -1.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,045 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($14,291 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($8,432 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Shrimp Imports in the Czech Republic
In 2022, imports of shrimps into the Czech Republic rose markedly to 3K tons, with an increase of 8.7% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, shrimp imports skyrocketed to $32M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Shrimp Exports in the Czech Republic
For the third year in a row, the Czech Republic recorded decline in shipments abroad of shrimps, which decreased by -28.1% to 574 tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -3.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, shrimp exports reduced dramatically to $7.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 2.8%.
