The average shrimp import price stood at $7,335 per ton in March 2023, flattening at the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 22% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,092 per ton. From September 2022 to March 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($8,186 per ton), while the price for Iran ($5,255 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Venezuela (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In March 2023, the average shrimp export price amounted to $7,688 per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 106% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $26,748 per ton. From July 2022 to March 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
