Shrimp Price in Uruguay (CIF) - 2022
The average shrimp import price stood at $6,577 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 9%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $8,946 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Vietnam ($8,737 per ton) and Argentina ($8,167 per ton), while the price for Ecuador ($5,839 per ton) and India ($5,839 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+23.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average shrimp export price stood at $8,173 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $9,471 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for New Zealand amounted to -0.4% per year.
