Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,745,729 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($1,904,918 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($371,210 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,329 per kg; afterwards, it flattened through to August 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Chile ($2.9M per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($850K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
