Skim Milk Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
The average skim milk import price stood at $529 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 25% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 100% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,029 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,079 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($350 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+22.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Skim Milk Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average skim milk export price amounted to $1,077 per ton, declining by -20.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 116%. The export price peaked at $2,193 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($4,433 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($746 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+45.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Skim Milk Imports in Bulgaria
In 2022, supplies from abroad of skim milk decreased by -31% to 2.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 292%.
In value terms, skim milk imports shrank markedly to $1.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 372% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Skim Milk Exports in Bulgaria
For the third year in a row, Bulgaria recorded decline in overseas shipments of skim milk, which decreased by -82.9% to 22 tons in 2022. In general, exports recorded a dramatic shrinkage. The smallest decline of -11.9% was in 2020.
In value terms, skim milk exports shrank remarkably to $24K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a precipitous contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 90%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $407K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
