Skim Milk Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average skim milk export price amounted to $1,228 per ton, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 7.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,363 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Cambodia ($1,294 per ton) and Hong Kong SAR ($1,237 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,086 per ton) and Singapore ($1,139 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Skim Milk Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average skim milk import price amounted to $5,492 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $9,871 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($274,000 per ton), while the price for the UK ($5,081 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+440.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Skim Milk Exports in Thailand
In 2022, approx. 3.5K tons of skim milk were exported from Thailand; waning by -5.3% on the previous year. Overall, exports showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.7K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, skim milk exports dropped to $4.3M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year.

In 2022, overseas purchases of skim milk decreased by -66.9% to 662 kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 549% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 2 tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
