Sour Cherry Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2022
The average sour cherry import price stood at $617 per ton in 2022, rising by 7.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a sharp shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 67%. The import price peaked at $7,649 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($857 per ton), while the price for Poland totaled $545 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+147.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sour Cherry Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sour cherry export price amounted to $392 per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,589 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Belarus.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Belarus amounted to +1.9% per year.
Sour Cherry Imports in Lithuania
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of sour cherries, when their volume decreased by -36.6% to 236 tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 107% against the previous year.
In value terms, sour cherry imports dropped notably to $146K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $213K, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
