Soya Bean Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
The average soya bean export price stood at $500 per ton in August 2023, waning by -4.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $702 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($696 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($415 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Soya Bean Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average soya bean import price amounted to $633 per ton, dropping by -15.1% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, soya bean import price decreased by -45.8% against April 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 34% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,168 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($17,252 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($563 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+33.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Soya Bean Exports in Croatia
In 2022, overseas shipments of soya beans decreased by -17% to 155K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 265K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, soya bean exports dropped rapidly to $107M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 43% against the previous year.
