Sparkling Wine Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2023
The average sparkling wine import price stood at $6.2 per litre in May 2023, jumping by 40% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 122% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $9.4 per litre. From February 2023 to May 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($49.6 per litre), while the price for Germany ($1.9 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sparkling Wine Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sparkling wine export price amounted to $4.7 per litre, picking up by 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $10 per litre in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($43 per litre), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+16.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sparkling Wine Imports in Slovakia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of sparkling wine decreased by -48.7% to 2.7M litres in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.2M litres, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, sparkling wine imports dropped remarkably to $13M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 24% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $24M in 2021, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

Sparkling Wine Exports in Slovakia
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of sparkling wine decreased by -25.2% to 125K litres in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 69%. The exports peaked at 167K litres in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, sparkling wine exports skyrocketed to $588K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
