In August 2023, the average spices; mixtures import price amounted to $14,419 per ton, rising by 6.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 36% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $19,567 per ton. From December 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($56,846 per ton), while the price for Sri Lanka ($4,958 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, spices; mixtures export price increased by +26.9% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 73% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $37,312 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($34,608 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($7,087 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
