Spices; Nutmeg Price in Bahrain (CIF) - 2022
The average spices; nutmeg import price stood at $8,147 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, spices; nutmeg import price increased by +90.8% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 7.9%. The import price peaked at $8,473 per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($36,350 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($4,253 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sri Lanka (+17.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spices; Nutmeg Imports in Bahrain
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of spices; nutmeg, when their volume increased by 4.8% to 18 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a pronounced slump.
In value terms, spices; nutmeg imports totaled $149K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
