The average spices; nutmeg import price stood at $3,421 per ton in 2022, picking up by 14% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 41%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $11,596 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for India.

In 2022, purchases abroad of spices; nutmeg decreased by -7.4% to 8.4 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9.1 tons, and then shrank in the following year.
