In 2022, the average spices; saffron import price amounted to $176,797 per ton, increasing by 4.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a perceptible decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 76% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $256,659 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($369,939 per ton), while the price for Italy ($9,600 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
