The average spices; saffron import price stood at $27,586 per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a sharp setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $450,674 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($53,108 per ton), while the price for France ($15,626 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
