In 2022, the average spices; turmeric (curcuma) export price amounted to $1,469 per ton, with a decrease of -17.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $4,420 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,469 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($1,469 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
