In June 2023, the average spinach import price amounted to $752 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 60% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,916 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,033 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($347 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
