Spinach Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
The average spinach export price stood at $848 per ton in 2022, falling by -53.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed mild growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 1,148% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,450 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($746 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa totaled $500 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+184.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average spinach import price stood at $3,917 per ton in 2022, dropping by -62.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 159% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $10,326 per ton in 2021, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,272 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($887 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+13.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, spinach exports from Nigeria fell sharply to 79 kg, dropping by -92.4% compared with 2021. In general, exports saw a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 80% against the previous year.
