Spirits and Liqueurs Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average spirits and liqueurs import price stood at $4.9 per litre in July 2023, with an increase of 2.5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5.0 per litre in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($10.4 per litre), while the price for Poland ($2.2 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spirits and Liqueurs Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average spirits and liqueurs export price amounted to $5.2 per litre, reducing by -13.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 7.4% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $6.1 per litre in June 2023, and then declined in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($8.3 per litre), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($1.3 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spirits and Liqueurs Imports in Germany
In 2022, imports of spirits, liqueurs and other spirituous beverages into Germany amounted to 403M litres, surging by 5.2% on 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, spirits and liqueurs imports expanded rapidly to $1.9B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
