Stainless Steel Wire Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average stainless steel wire import price amounted to $11,135 per ton, with an increase of 48% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, stainless steel wire import price increased by +47.5% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 52% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $13,880 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($19,804 per ton), while the price for India ($4,097 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average stainless steel wire export price stood at $2,006 per ton in 2022, reducing by -62.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 157%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,466 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,680 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,111 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Albania (+33.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
