Starch Glue Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
The average starch glue import price stood at $9,149 per ton in 2022, picking up by 52% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $14,922 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($98,884 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Starch Glue Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average starch glue export price amounted to $1,424 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 324% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9,924 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($5,950 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($896 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Starch Glue Imports in Thailand
In 2022, supplies from abroad of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches decreased by -47.9% to 2.7K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 58%.
In value terms, starch glue imports contracted remarkably to $25M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. After three years of growth, overseas shipments of glues based on starches, dextrins or other modified starches decreased by -10.7% to 3.8K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.3K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, starch glue exports reduced to $5.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +41.3% against 2019 indices.
