The average starch; manioc (cassava) import price stood at $626 per ton in 2022, increasing by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $642 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($1,404 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($505 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uganda (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average starch; manioc (cassava) export price amounted to $1,121 per ton, declining by -17.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 97% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,361 per ton, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Somalia ($2,197 per ton), while the average price for exports to Rwanda ($622 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+596.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
