Starches; Inulin Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average starches; inulin export price amounted to $943 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, export price indicated noticeable growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, starches; inulin export price increased by +20.0% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 42% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in July 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Tunisia ($994 per ton) and Cote d'Ivoire ($936 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($936 per ton) and Morocco ($936 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average starches; inulin import price amounted to $1,168 per ton, dropping by -5.6% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, starches; inulin import price increased by +36.9% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 45% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,237 per ton, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($1,479 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($943 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Starches; Inulin Exports in Egypt
Starches; inulin exports from Egypt stood at 66K tons in 2022, growing by 4.3% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 13%.
In value terms, starches; inulin exports surged to $52M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
