The average starches; inulin import price stood at $925 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 10% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 13% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,052 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,118 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($546 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average starches; inulin export price amounted to $422 per ton, with a decrease of -24.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,212 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.8% over the last three years.
