Starches; Inulin Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average starches; inulin export price amounted to $424 per ton, flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.7% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $496 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were South Korea ($450 per ton) and Thailand ($447 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($392 per ton) and Bangladesh ($397 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Starches; Inulin Price in India (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average starches; inulin import price amounted to $1,235 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 53% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,198 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,366 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($599 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Starches; Inulin Exports in India
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of starches; inulins decreased by -8.8% to 489K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 111%.
In value terms, starches; inulin exports surged to $231M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 112% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Starches; Inulin Imports in India
In 2022, supplies from abroad of starches; inulins was finally on the rise to reach 9K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a sharp descent.
In value terms, starches; inulin imports amounted to $12M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage.
