Starches; Inulin Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average starches; inulin import price amounted to $893 per ton, reducing by -8.9% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,104 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,847 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($548 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average starches; inulin export price amounted to $989 per ton, with a decrease of -2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 33% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,500 per ton. From April 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,515 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($603 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
