Styrene Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average styrene export price stood at $1,236 per ton in August 2023, rising by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The export price peaked at $1,506 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Sweden ($1,428 per ton) and Norway ($1,426 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,138 per ton) and Austria ($1,184 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Styrene Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average styrene import price amounted to $1,247 per ton, with an increase of 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $1,280 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Spain ($1,307 per ton) and France ($1,287 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,138 per ton) and Germany ($1,170 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Styrene Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, the amount of styrene exported from the Netherlands shrank remarkably to 1.4M tons, reducing by -17.7% on the year before. In general, exports showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.7M tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
